'I didn't consider other offers' – Onuachu vows to score plenty of goals for Trabzonspor
Published: July 03, 2025
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has reaffirmed his commitment to Trabzonspor following his return to the Turkish club, vowing to score many goals and help the team achieve its ambitions in the new season.
The Nigerian forward rejoined Trabzonspor on Wednesday night after the club reached an agreement with Southampton for his transfer.
Onuachu previously enjoyed a prolific loan spell with the Claret-Blue side during the 2023-2024 campaign, netting 15 goals and providing four assists in just 21 league appearances.
He arrived in Turkey aboard a private jet from Amsterdam and was greeted by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters at the airport.
Speaking to fans upon his arrival, Onuachu said his decision to return was driven by the deep affection he received during his loan spell.
"I felt that love when I came on loan. Now I've been here for many years. I have unfinished business with this city and this team," Onuachu told reporters, including nefes.
"I saw the love of the fans when I first came, and I see the same love today. I didn't consider other offers because I wanted to be here."
Determined to repay the support of the Trabzonspor faithful, the 31-year-old forward pledged to deliver on the pitch.
"I'm here to reciprocate that love. My goal is to score as many goals as I can. We want to do good things this season with my team and our coach," he added.
Onuachu will be looking to rediscover the form that made him a fan favourite during his first spell in Turkey, as he aims to reignite his career after a difficult 2024/2025 season with Southampton.
