Official: Highly rated midfielder Arinze signs new five-year contract with FC Midtjylland
Published: July 03, 2025
FC Midtjylland have officially announced that promising Nigerian midfielder James Arinze has signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at the Danish club until the summer of 2030.
The latest development was revealed on the official website of the club on Thursday, highlighting Midtjylland’s continued commitment to nurturing young talent.
The 19-year-old, who joined from strategic partner FC Ebedei in April 2024, has quickly become an influential figure in Midtjylland’s youth ranks.
Over the recently concluded 2024/25 season, Arinze played a vital role in the club’s gold-winning U19 team that reached the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League.
He made 25 appearances in the U19 League, scoring four goals, and added three more goals in five Youth League fixtures.
Reflecting on his journey, Arinze spoke candidly about his growth and early challenges.
"I am excited and motivated about this new deal. It brings back memories of my first game at the club and how much I have learned,” he said.
"My first game was for the U17s and I got a red card. After the game, I realised how much I had to learn about tackling and pressing because I was committing far too many free kicks at that time."
Arinze added: "I think I've improved a lot in that part of the game. At the same time, I've become better on the ball. Now I have to take things step by step.
"I have to develop even more, and hopefully one day I will end up in the first team here in Midtjylland. My biggest dream is to become skilled enough to play in the Premier League."
With the new contract now official, FC Midtjylland have reaffirmed their faith in Arinze’s potential to break through at the highest level.
