'They are saying' – Galatasaray reporter reveals club's strategy to convince Osimhen to stay
Published: July 06, 2025
The future of Galatasaray's star striker Victor Osimhen remains one of the most closely watched topics in Turkish football, as the club continues its efforts to keep the Nigerian forward for at least another season.
Speaking on A Spor via habersarikirmizi.com, Galatasaray reporter Mehmet Özcan shed light on the club’s strategy to convince Osimhen to stay.
“Galatasaray is forcing the conditions for Osimhen like this. They are saying, ‘Stay with us for one more season’,” Özcan explained.
“They are saying, ‘Be in the Champions League, play in your rhythm, don’t lose your value, go to the team you dream of, and let's write a release clause for you so that we don’t block your path.’”
Özcan also highlighted the active role of manager Okan Buruk in the process.
“Okan Buruk is in constant communication with Osimhen. He communicates one-on-one with foreign players, he has good communication,” he said, emphasising the personal touch being applied to keep the striker motivated and focused on Galatasaray’s immediate ambitions.
Despite these efforts, Özcan noted that Osimhen still has his sights set on the Premier League.
“There is also the possibility of Osimhen's situation being postponed until August. When Osimhen left Istanbul, he said ‘I want to play in the Premier League’.
“He is waiting for a good offer from there. He is waiting for the Club World Cup to end. He also thinks that with the changes that will occur in the forward lines, it will be his turn.”
Galatasaray’s position appears clear-headed, aiming to balance the club’s sporting goals with the player’s personal ambitions.
By offering to include a release clause, the Turkish champions hope to avoid standing in the way of Osimhen’s long-term plans, while also benefiting from his presence in the crucial Champions League campaign ahead.
Interest in Osimhen from abroad remains high, but no concrete offer has yet met Galatasaray’s expectations.
With the summer transfer window open until the end of August, the club’s negotiations could stretch on for weeks.
