Club Brugge in talks with Southampton over transfer of forward on Eric Chelle's radar
Published: July 07, 2025
Club Brugge have expressed interest in Samuel Edozie and are in negotiations with Southampton over a potential deal, according to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri.
Club Brugge are targeting Edozie as a replacement for Chemsdine Talbi, who has been strongly linked with Premier League newcomers Sunderland.
Southampton, relegated from the Premier League last season after a dismal campaign, are preparing for a major squad overhaul and appear open to offloading the Nigeria-eligible winger.
Edozie is among the youngsters being monitored by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle ahead of the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Born in London, the Manchester City academy product is provisionally cap-tied to England, having made competitive appearances for the Young Lions at U19 level, before featuring at the 2023 Fifa U20 World Cup.
Edozie is no stranger to the Belgian top-flight, having spent the previous season on loan at RSC Anderlecht.
He featured in 23 games in the Jupiler Pro League, scoring three and assisting three, helping Anderlecht to a fourth-place finish.
The forward also caught the eye in European competition, registering a goal and an assist in five Europa League appearances for the Belgian side.
Edozie has been with Southampton since September 2022 and has two years remaining on his current contract.
