'He wants to go to PL' – Getafe president says Uche prefers England despite offers from Italy

Getafe president Ángel Torres has confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche could be on the verge of a major move to the Premier League, a development closely monitored by the Ceuta FC Sports Association due to their financial stake in the player's future.

"Uche doesn't even know what he wants; it depends on how he gets up. He's coming tomorrow, and we'll talk to him.

"He's clear that if he's going, it's to the Premier League. He has offers from Italy, but he, I don't know why, wants to go to the Premier League. He'll tell us about it starting tomorrow," Torres said, and was quoted as saying by Ceuta tv, underlining both the player's indecision and determination to play in England.

Uche, who joined Getafe after a standout season with AD Ceuta FC under coach José Juan Romero, has quickly become one of the sensations of La Liga.

His consistent performances not only earned him a nomination for the Best Under-23 Player of the Month for February but also a recent call-up to the Nigerian national team.

The Ceuta FC Sports Association retains a percentage of the Nigerian footballer's sale of just over 12%, a figure that could translate into significant revenue.

For example, if Uche is sold for €20 million, approximately €2.5 million would go to the coffers of the club from the Autonomous City of Ceuta.

Uche’s journey has been remarkable. Signed in the summer of 2023 by AD Ceuta FC from Moralo CP in the Third Federation, he initially joined the reserve team before breaking into the first team.

Described as a defensive player, capable of also playing as a center back, with quality and potential, Uche quickly kicked down the door and secured his spot under Romero.

An investment that now looks like a sure bet, the 22-year-old’s development from Spain’s third tier to La Liga has exceeded expectations.
