'Nobody wants to play them' – Mikel doubts Chelsea's chances against Paris Saint-Germain

Former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has raised doubts about Chelsea's chances of winning the FIFA Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), set to take place this Sunday.

Speaking during his analysis on DAZN following PSG's emphatic 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the semifinals, Mikel praised the French champions' commanding performance, suggesting that their current form makes them a team no one wants to face.

"I don't think anybody wants to play them the way they are playing," Mikel said. "Every team in the world right now is looking at them and thinking how do we play like this?"

The former midfielder, who spent over a decade at Stamford Bridge, lauded PSG's all-round quality and work ethic, emphasizing their dominance both in and out of possession.

"This is the way football is played, not just when they have the ball but also when they don't have the ball, I think they work so hard and they control the game."

Chelsea booked their spot in the final after a solid 2-0 victory over Brazilian side Fluminense, while PSG cruised past Real Madrid with a statement performance.

The clash between the two European giants now promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.

Mikel acknowledged Chelsea's progress under their current setup, especially their revamped midfield trio of Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, and Cole Palmer.

"We have a great midfield now. Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Cole Palmer, who plays in the number ten role. It is going to be incredible to see the match," Mikel noted.

However, he remained cautious about Chelsea's prospects, particularly in comparison to PSG's formidable midfield led by Vitinha.

"But, I think those three in the PSG midfield, they control the game and dictate the way they play. Vitinha is absolutely fantastic, it's a joy to watch him play. Hopefully, on Sunday, we will stop them."

Chelsea enter the final on the back of a successful European campaign, having lifted the Conference League earlier this year.

But with PSG's current momentum, the Blues will need a near-flawless performance to secure the Club World Cup trophy.
