No sign of wantaway midfielder Uche at Getafe training amid Premier League links
Published: July 12, 2025
Getafe resumed their pre-season preparations on Saturday morning at the Fernando Santos de la Parra Sports City but the continued absence of Christantus Uche remains the talking point, according to Futbol Fantasy.
For the second consecutive day, there was no sign of the Nigeria international as the squad, under the guidance of manager Pepe Bordalás, continued their training ahead of next Friday's friendly against Preston North End.
Uche, whose future at Getafe has been clouded by uncertainty amid reported interest from Premier League and Serie A clubs, was once again missing in action, with club officials offering no explanation for his absence.
Spanish media outlets have also been left in the dark as speculation swirls around whether the midfielder is seeking a move away this summer.
The rest of the Getafe squad trained as normal, working on physical and tactical drills as they prepare for the new campaign.
However, with less than a week to go until their first pre-season fixture, Uche's continued no-show has raised further questions about his status at the club.
Whether his absence is linked to transfer developments or another issue remains to be seen, but for now, Getafe continue without one of their most talked-about midfielders.
Getafe will reportedly not let Uche leave for less than €20 million and if the deal goes through, the club would make a profit of around €19.5 million compared to his signing from Ceuta.
The Super Eagles star has a contract with Getafe until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
He enjoyed a breakout campaign last term, registering 10 goal involvements in 33 outings in La Liga.
