Napoli preparing for life without Osimhen: Super Eagles striker omitted from training camp
Published: July 17, 2025
Napoli have omitted Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen from their squad for the club's pre-season training camp in South Tyrol, in a clear indication that his time at the club is drawing to a close.
The Nigerian international, who has been at the centre of ongoing transfer speculation, is reportedly on the verge of a high-profile move to Turkish champions Galatasaray.
Napoli's hierarchy are convinced that Osimhen has played his final game for the club and have therefore chosen not to include him in the travelling group.
Negotiations between the two clubs are still ongoing, with Galatasaray willing to meet Napoli's €75 million valuation, though not in a single payment, a sticking point that is yet to be resolved.
A total of 30 players have been called up for the training camp, including marquee signings Kevin De Bruyne, Noa Lang and highly rated youngster Luca Marianucci.
However, several notable names are absent from the list, including Cyril Ngonge, Walid Cheddira, Jesper Lindstrøm, Michael Folorunsho, Jens Cajuste, and Giuseppe Ambrosino, along with Osimhen.
The exclusion of the Nigerian forward is seen as the clearest sign yet that Napoli are preparing for life after Osimhen.
Since joining Napoli from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 games.
