'We'll see' – Fink unsure if Arokodare will feature in Racing Genk's league opener
Published: July 21, 2025
Racing Genk head coach Thorsten Fink has cast doubt over Tolu Arokodare's involvement in the club's opening league fixture against Club Brugge, as speculation over the Nigerian striker's future continues to mount.
Arokodare, who enjoyed a standout season with the club, netting 23 goals and contributing 7 assists in 45 appearances, has attracted interest from several top European sides.
The Nigerian international is reportedly on the radar of major clubs such as AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and several Premier League teams.
With Racing Genk set to kick off the new Belgian Pro League season next weekend at the Jan Breydel Stadium, Fink admitted that uncertainty surrounding Arokodare's future could affect team selection.
"We'll see if Tolu is still there next week and plays then or not," Fink told Het Belang van Limburg after Genk's 1-1 pre-season draw against Rayo Vallecano.
"Oh is certainly a good player to field against Club Brugge."
The German tactician appeared encouraged by the performance of South Korean striker Hyeon-gyu Oh, who could step in should Arokodare be unavailable due to an impending transfer.
At 24, Arokodare is reportedly keen on a move to a more competitive league in order to continue his development and test himself at the highest level.
Meanwhile, Genk are open to selling but will demand a significant transfer fee to fund reinforcements as they aim to mount a serious title challenge this season.
With the transfer window still open and top clubs circling, Arokodare's future could be resolved in the coming weeks.
