'We won't do anything crazy' – Genk coach provides update on Fulham and Burnley-linked Arokodare
Published: August 02, 2025
Racing Genk head coach Thorsten Fink has offered clarity on the future of striker Tolu Arokodare, amid ongoing transfer speculation linking the Nigerian forward with a potential move away from the club.
The Nigerian international, who finished as the Belgian league's top scorer last season, has been heavily linked with a move away from Belgium this summer.
Despite reported interest from top European clubs including Fulham and Burnley, Genk have yet to receive any concrete offers for the prolific striker.
Speaking ahead of Genk’s upcoming league clash against Royal Antwerp, Fink addressed questions surrounding Tolu’s availability and possible departure, suggesting the club will not stand in the way if a suitable offer arrives.
"This is a difficult time for coaches and players, who are still hoping to make a good transfer,” Fink was quoted as saying by Het Belang van Limburg.
"But someone like Tolu remains available in the meantime. We're just not going to do anything crazy if a transfer is in the offing.”
The ongoing transfer uncertainty has prompted Genk to explore alternatives to the Nigerian striker, with the club choosing to start South Korean forward Oh Hyeon-gyu, despite Tolu's availability.
Following last weekend’s defeat to Club Brugge, head coach Thorsten Fink confirmed that the Nigerian striker will be available for selection in the upcoming clash against Royal Antwerp.
Fink added, with a smile: “If he's on the match sheet, you can assume there's nothing planned.”
Ahead of the clash, the Nigerian striker will be hoping for a place in the starting lineup as he looks to help Genk bounce back from their defeat to Club Brugge and return to winning ways.
