Liverpool keen to tie down Ngumoha to new deal as 16yo forward scores another stunning goal
Published: August 04, 2025
Liverpool are eager to secure a new deal for rising star Rio Ngumoha after the 16-year-old continued his standout preseason form with a sensational goal against Athletic Bilbao.
The teenage forward, who joined the Reds from Chelsea last summer, was on the scoresheet once again as Liverpool cruised to a 4-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao at Anfield.
Ngumoha opened the scoring just two minutes into the match with a breathtaking solo effort, weaving past several defenders from midfield before unleashing a thunderous strike into the back of the net.
It marked Ngumoha’s third goal of the preseason, following earlier strikes against Stoke City and Yokohama F. Marinos
,and added to the growing excitement around the youngster’s development at Anfield.
According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are already preparing a new contract offer for the highly-rated forward.
“Liverpool are preparing a new contract for Rio Ngumoha,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
"Liverpool are preparing a new contract for Rio. Liverpool want to show the kid that they trust him and the kid is showing Liverpool that he really trusts the project.
"The feeling between them is fantastic. Liverpool believe they have a diamond.”
The club see Ngumoha as a key part of their long-term future and are eager to lock him down before Europe’s top clubs begin to circle.
With Liverpool set to face Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, Ngumoha will hope to get some minutes with the senior team to continue his development.
