UCL qualifier: Durosinmi finds the net but Viktoria Plzen lose to Dessers' Rangers on aggregate
Published: August 12, 2025
Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi was on target as Viktoria Plzen recorded a 2-1 win over Rangers in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifying tie at the Doosan Arena on Tuesday night.
Despite the victory, the Czech side bowed out 4-2 on aggregate after Rangers’ commanding 3-0 first-leg win at Ibrox last week.
Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers started and was in action for 54 minutes for the Scottish Premiership side
Durosinmi, who has been linked with a move away from Plzen, opened the scoring in the 44th minute, slotting home from an Amar Memić assist to spark celebrations among the home fans.
The goal took his tally to two in four matches during the qualifiers.
The visitors responded after the break, with Lyall Cameron levelling in the 60th minute.
However, Svetozar Marković restored Plzen’s lead late in the game to seal the win on the night.
Durosinmi has drawn interest from Serie A side Lazio following his impressive displays in last season’s UEFA Europa League.
He has continued his fine form this term, netting three times in seven appearances across all competitions.
With the summer transfer window set to close in a few days, the in-form forward will be eager to maintain his scoring touch as he eyes a potential big move.
Rangers have advanced to the UEFA Champions League playoff round, setting up a clash with Raphael Onyedika’s Club Brugge.
