Premier League new boys Burnley loan out Nigerian attacking midfielder to Cercle Brugge

With a statement on the official website, Premier League newcomers Burnley announced that Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder Adewunmi Oluwaseun has joined Belgian side Cercle Brugge on a season-long loan.

Oluwaseun, who arrived at Turf Moor last summer, impressed during a loan spell at Scottish Premiership club Dundee, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 25 league appearances.

His standout performances earned him Dundee’s Young Player of the Season award at the club’s annual ceremony.

The versatile attacker returned to Scott Parker’s squad for pre-season training in Portugal before sealing the move to Belgium in search of regular first-team football.

Oluwaseun, who is also eligible to represent Nigeria, has played for Austria at various youth levels, including the U19 and U21 teams in 2024.

Despite his appearances for Austria’s youth sides, the versatile player remains eligible for the Nigerian national team as he has yet to make a senior appearance for Austria.

With the loan move completed, Oluwaseun will aim to secure regular playing time in Belgium and build on his fine form to further his development.

Oluwaseun, who can play across several positions, will be looking to make significant progress at Cercle Brugge and strengthen his case for a spot in Burnley’s first-team squad in the 2026-2027 campaign.
