Confusion over Boniface's proposed AC Milan move as Super Eagles striker returns to Germany

Uncertainty continues to surround Victor Boniface's proposed switch to AC Milan after the Super Eagles striker returned to Germany on Sunday, despite an agreement being in place between the Italian and German clubs.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday morning that Boniface travelled back to Germany after spending 48 hours in Milan, with no final approval yet granted for the move.

AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen had settled on the financial details of the deal, with a €5 million loan fee and an option to buy set at €24 million.

Completion of the transfer hinges on Boniface successfully passing his medical examinations, which were conducted on Friday.

Reports in Italy suggested that the Rossoneri had arranged further knee tests for Saturday, given the 24-year-old's history of two cruciate ligament injuries.

However, AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare moved to play down such claims, insisting before their Serie A opener against Cremonese that the situation was not as clear-cut as reported.

Boniface is now back with Leverkusen, awaiting Milan's decision on the results of his medical assessments.

The delay has cast doubt over the highly anticipated transfer, leaving the Nigeria international in limbo as the end of the summer window draws nearer.
