Chelsea's Chukwuemeka arrives in Dortmund ahead of permanent move and medical
Published: August 25, 2025
Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has arrived in Dortmund to complete a permanent transfer to Borussia Dortmund, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The21-year-old is set to undergo a medical examination today, alongside Chelsea teammate Aaron Anselmino, who will join the Bundesliga club on loan.
The move represents a major step in Chukwuemeka’s career as he seeks regular first-team football.
Chukwuemeka impressed during a loan spell at Dortmund in the 2024-25 season, prompting the Bundesliga side to secure him permanently in a deal reportedly worth €25 million with add-ons and a significant sell-on clause for Chelsea.
The transfer also aligns with Chelsea’s efforts to comply with UEFA financial regulations, with the club’s summer sales surpassing £270 million.
Dortmund, meanwhile, strengthen their midfield following the departure of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to Chelsea for €65 million.
A rising talent in England’s youth setup, Chukwuemeka was part of the England U19 squad that won the 2022 UEFA European Championship, earning a place in the Team of the Tournament.
Eligible to represent Austria, England, or Nigeria at the senior level, the midfielder’s versatility, technical skill, and composure on the ball make him a valuable addition to Dortmund’s squad.
