Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are considering a deadline-day swoop for Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, with talks ongoing over a possible loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen, according to Sky Sport Germany transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.

Boniface, who joined Leverkusen in the summer of 2023, endured a difficult campaign last season as injuries and inconsistent form hampered his progress.

The 24-year-old managed 11 goals in 27 appearances in 2024-2025, leading to uncertainty about his long-term future at the BayArena.

Bremen have opened discussions with Leverkusen over a temporary deal, with both clubs keen to reach an agreement before the transfer window shuts.

The striker had previously been linked with AC Milan, but a potential move fell through due to fitness concerns.

With only hours left before the window closes, Boniface is eager to secure the switch to Bremen in search of regular playing time and a chance to revive his form.

The move could also boost his chances of returning to Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad after being left out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Rwanda.
