Sevilla sweat on fitness of Nigerian duo: Adams and Ejuke in race against time for Elche clash
Published: September 10, 2025
Sevilla faces a significant challenge ahead of Friday’s La Liga clash with Elche CF, as Nigerian forwards Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke are racing against time to be fit, according to Estadio Deportivo.
Both players are currently sidelined, limiting Sevilla’s attacking options for the fixture at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Adams missed Sevilla’s 2-0 victory against Girona and has been making progress with off-the-ball exercises in training.
However, reports suggest he is unlikely to be called up for the Elche clash as the club is prioritizing his full recovery before reintegrating him into the squad.
Ejuke also remains sidelined after suffering a myofascial injury to the long adductor of his right thigh during the Girona match.
He is expected to miss at least the next two fixtures, further reducing Sevilla’s offensive options alongside Adams.
Sevilla will also be without Joan Jordán, who continues to recover from his injury, and several international players who are returning from national team duties.
Despite these absences, the club is preparing to field a competitive side, with the possibility of integrating recent signings such as César Azpilicueta, Batista Mendy, Fábio Cardoso, and Alexis Sánchez, who could make their debuts in the coming matches.
With both Adams and Ejuke ruled out, Sevilla will need to adapt its attacking strategy while maintaining momentum after their victory over Girona before the international break.
