Super Eagles striker Sadiq doubtful for Real Sociedad v Real Madrid on Saturday
Published: September 11, 2025
Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar is a doubt for Real Sociedad’s La Liga clash against Real Madrid at the Reale Arena on Saturday.
The Nigerian striker has been declared surplus to requirements at the club but was unable to secure a move before the close of the summer transfer window.
He had been strongly linked with a return to Valencia, where he spent the first half of the year on loan.
During his spell at the Mestalla, Sadiq registered five goals in 16 league appearances, playing a key role in helping the club avoid relegation.
After the transfer window closed, the Nigerian forward was handed a squad number in the first team, making him eligible for selection.
However, Sadiq is now a doubt for the showdown with Real Madrid, alongside teammates Yangel Herrera and Óskarsson.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Super Eagles striker is dealing with discomfort that has kept him from training at full intensity.
The setback will come as a major blow for Sadiq, who was hoping to seize the opportunity to impress new manager Sergio Francisco.
With his future at the club still unresolved, Sadiq will be eager to make a swift return and seize any chance to prove himself.
