Atalanta's provisional squad v PSG: Lookman out but another Nigerian named in travelling party

Atalanta have confirmed a 23-man squad for their UEFA Champions League group stage opener against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The fixture is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17 at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

Manager Ivan Juric has opted to leave out Nigeria international Ademola Lookman, who will not make his season debut after being omitted from the travelling party.

The Super Eagles forward remains in dispute with the club following his failed summer move to Inter Milan and has been training separately since returning from international duty.

Despite his inactivity at club level, Lookman featured for Nigeria in their recent World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.

In more positive news from a Nigerian persepective, Juric has included summer signing Honest Ahanor in the squad.

The 17-year-old fullback of Nigerian descent joined the Bergamo side in July on a three-year deal running until 2028.

Ahanor made headlines last season as the first player born in 2008 to appear in the Serie A.

Though he has yet to make his competitive debut for Atalanta, this marks the fourth time he has been named in a senior matchday squad.
