Ones to watch: Five Flying Eagles players to follow at 2025 Fifa U20 World Cup
Published: September 26, 2025
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles head to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile with a mix of youth, talent, and determination.
Coached by Aliyu Zubairu, the squad is drawn in Group F alongside Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia, opening their campaign against Norway on Monday, September 29.
Below are the five Flying Eagles players to watch out for during the tournament:
Goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt is one of the squad’s standout talents. At just 15, he has already impressed with his composure and shot-stopping abilities
in crucial AFCON U-20 matches. Harcourt’s command of the penalty area and ability to make decisive saves make him a player capable of anchoring Nigeria’s defense throughout the tournament.
Midfielder Daniel Daga has been pivotal in controlling the tempo of Nigeria’s play. Now with Molde FK in Norway, Daga brings European experience and tactical intelligence to the midfield.
His vision, ball distribution, and ability to link defense and attack will be crucial as the Eagles seek to dominate possession and break down opposition defenses.
On the flanks, Sani Suleiman provides pace, creativity, and width. The AS Trencin winger is known for his dribbling and direct style, offering Nigeria a constant attacking outlet capable of stretching defenses and creating opportunities.
Foward Tahir Maigana adds dynamism up front with intelligent movement and instinctive play.
His ability to exploit spaces and make timely runs makes him a constant threat to opposing defenses, providing the team with options in the attacking third.
Finally, attacking midfielder Nasiru Salihu brings vision and composure to the middle of the park.
Playing for FK Qabala in Azerbaijan, his passing range and set-piece delivery offer the Eagles an additional attacking dimension.
