'Tough match' - Inter Milan loanee Akinsanmiro reacts after winning MOTM in Tuscan derby
Published: September 29, 2025
Pisa midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has expressed delight after being named man of the match in his side’s hard-fought draw against Fiorentina in the Tuscany derby on Sunday.
The 20-year-old produced a standout display in midfield, earning plaudits for his performance as Pisa played a goalless draw at the Stadio Romeo Anconetani.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, Akinsanmiro admitted the match was tough and expressed hope of replicating his Man of the Match display in future games.
"We played with great grit and determination, we deserved a different result," he was quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.
"It was a very tough match in midfield, even for me, as I'm playing my first Serie A matches. I'm very happy to have been named man of the match; it's the first time, and I hope to repeat that."
The energetic midfielder, on loan from Inter Milan to the newly-promoted side, caught the eye with an impressive blend of defensive solidity and creativity in midfield.
He registered five successful tackles, one clearance, and won twelve ground duels as he worked tirelessly to win back possession.
In addition, he completed 94% of his passes, delivered two key passes, two accurate long balls, and a precise cross that created scoring opportunities against Fiorentina.
Akinsanmiro will be eager to maintain this level of performance as he aims to stake a claim for a place in Inter Milan’s squad next season.
