English-Egyptian-Nigerian left-back Ismail trains with Arsenal first team pre-Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta ran the rule over tri-national defender Cam'ron Ismail at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Tuesday ahead of his team's upcoming Premier League game against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

With some first team players yet to return from international duty, the Spanish tactician promoted Ismail to first team training to make up the numbers.

Among those away on national-team commitments during the November window were three attackers of Nigerian descent Eberechi Eze, Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka, alongside a host of established names including William Saliba, Leandro Trossard, Martin Zubimendi, David Raya, Mikel Merino, Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Christian Nørgaard, Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel and Piero Hincapié.

Ismail ended uncertainty over his future in July 2025 when he signed his first professional contract with the Gunners.

Born in London, he is eligible to represent Egypt and Nigeria through his mother and father respectively.

The left-back is yet to make his senior debut for the Gunners and has not been named in an official matchday squad.

The 2025-26 campaign has offered limited opportunities for the 18-year-old, who has yet to feature in the Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League or the EFL Trophy, where Arsenal U21s exited without him making an appearance.

Originally a striker, Ismail began his football journey at Camden Elite, before transitioning to fullback and joining Arsenal's Hale End Academy in 2021.
