Unrepentant EMMANUEL EMENIKE Vows To Repeat Goal Celebration
Published: July 26, 2012
Spartak Moscow forward Emmanuel Emenike has vowed to repeat his goal celebration, which got him sent off in the 43rd round of matches in the Russian championship last season against Zenith St Petersburg.
''Without a shadow of a doubt, I will use this gesture as there's nothing offensive about it. I repeat: it is only a means to thank my parents for the blood that flows in my veins. And that red card in St. Petersburg - complete nonsense. Judge committed an obvious error,'' the 25-year-old Nigeria international told the official website of the red and white.
Emeninke is full of praise for his teammates and the club's supporters for standing by him in the next game played by Spartak Moscow after the incident.at the Stadion Petrovskij.
''Felt more supported in the field from the very first seconds when I was only shown the red card. It especially touched me, in the next match with Lokomotiv Moscow, the whole team came in T-shirts with my picture, and the stands were banners in my support. But most of all I liked the fact that we won that game,'' Emenike said.
Spartak Moscow had appealed the decision of referee Vladimir Kazmenko to red-card Emmanuel Emenike, but it was rubber-stamped by the Ethics Committee of the RFU.
