IKECHUKWU UCHE Excited About Nations Cup
Published: December 17, 2012
Villarreal attacker Ikechukwu Uche has told his teammates to forget about the 0 -2 loss to Girona in the 15th round of games in the Segunda Division and concentrate on the next fixture against Xerez.
The Nigeria international told the official website of The Yellow Submarine: ''The sooner we forget, the better, because now we can not do anything, but it is clear that the referee hurt us at times.
''We have to forget, not to think about it and think about winning the game against Xerez on Thursday. The victory would help us have a quiet holiday. It is the last game of the year for us and we will try everything to win. I am not thinking about being first, second or whatever, but to win and keep pace with the top teams.''
Ikechukwu Uche has been summoned by coach Stephen Keshi for the friendly against Catalunya on 2nd January at Cornella El Prat Stadium. An important member of the Super Eagles squad, he is expected to be named in the 23 - man squad to South Africa barring any unforeseen circumstances.
''I am very excited about the African Cup of Nations and I think, if all goes well, is the maximum for a player. For now I'm happy and I know that whoever replaces me will do well,'' says Uche.
28 - year - old Uche has scored nine goals in his last nine matches for the National Team.
