Rizespor's Uche Kalu is in a race against the clock to be fit for the African Cup of Nations after suffering a groin injury in training, officials have disclosed.
''Uche (Kalu) is here in camp, but he is down with an injury, a groin injury to be precise. He is being checked by the team doctor to ascertain the seriousness of the injury,'' Ben Alaiya, Eagles spokesman, informed MTNFootball.com.
Now, team medics are battling to get Uche Kalu fit for next Wednesday's friendly with Cape Verde. With 9 goals in 12 games, the former Enyimba star is the 6th highest goalscorer in Turkey's second - tier.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Reuben has recovered from illness and will be in line to play against Cape Verde in Faro.
