Ekene Obi Urges Teammates To Put Loss Behind Them
Published: March 05, 2013
Remo Stars defender Ekene Obi has reacted to the loss against Akwa Starlet on Sunday in Uyo and has urged his teammates to show character in their next game.
The Sky Blue Stars were looking like earning a point until the 73rd minute. An error from goalkeeper Ibukun Araromi provided
Arahibong Utube the chance to pounce on a spilled cross to score the goal that deprived the Stars the chance of picking a point in Akwa-Ibom.
Ekene expressed his disappointment on the defeat and wants his colleagues to respond well in their next home fixture against Crown FC.
''I have to be sincere it was a painful defeat, we played our hearts out to pick a point at least.
''At halftime we were on level terms, we said to ourselves if we can’t score a goal in the next 30 minutes, we let the score line remain like that but conceding the goal in the 73rd minute which finally turned out to the winner through an error from our goalkeeper really hurts but that is football,'' Ekene said.
He went further: ''Now we have to remain focused and don’t let that pull us down ahead of the south west derby against Crown FC. We have to show that zeal and wining mentality we have always shown come Sunday.''
