Eddy Onazi: Nigerians Do Not Want To Know If It Is A Friendly
Published: May 30, 2013
Lazio midfielder Eddy Onazi says the Super Eagles will be well motivated to defeat the Mexico National Team on Friday in Houston, Texas.
''Nigerians do not want to know if it is friendly or what tournament, we just want to win because we believe we have the capacity,''Onazi was quoted as saying by msn.mediotiempo.com.
Coach Stephen Keshi is using the friendly against the CONCACAF powerhouse to fine-tune his strategies ahead of vital World Cup qualifying fixtures against Kenya and Malawi.
For this game at the Reliant Stadium, he is without the services of several first team players including Chelsea pair Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.
''Without Mikel or Moses ... are key players for the team but do not rely on one individual, we rely on the team and on Friday we'll see,'' Keshi told the Mexican website.
Last year against the Venezuelans, the Eagles lacked support but a good number of Nigerians are expected at the Reliant Stadium on Friday to cheer the National Team to victory.
''The last time I came to Miami to play Venezuela, I only saw a flag,'' Keshi concluded.
