Published: October 06, 2014
According to leaks gathered by allnigeriasoccer.com’s editorial
staff, Belgian Pro League club KV Mechelen are leading the race to sign
Nigeria youth international Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Golden Ball winner at last year’s Fifa Under 17 World Cup has been training with MLS side Columbus Crew since the start of September.
This website has been specially informed by sources in the know that Kelechi Iheanacho is awaiting the outcome of his visa application to the Belgian Embassy in the United States before heading to Antwerp to join KV Mechelen.
At KV Mechelen, the 18 - year- old will reunite with another Manchester City trainee Chidiebere Nwakali, who has also agreed to join The Yellow Reds on loan from the English Premier League champions.
Chidiebere Nwakaki, who is presently in Mechelen, was issued a Belgian visa last Friday, and departed the shores of the country on Sunday.
Kelechi Iheanacho had been linked with a shift to New York City, but it appears the proposed move hit a brick wall.
