Published: February 01, 2015
As the stakeholders in Oyo State awaits the guidelines for the State’s Football Association Elections from the election committee, chaired by Dr. Abiodun Salami, the sporting-political atmosphere in the pace-setter state is now hitting up.
Chief Bolaji Ojo-Oba who just retired from the services of National Sports Commission has stylishly beginning to show interest in the race for who becomes the next man that will collect baton from the outgoing Oyo FA boss, Barr. Leye Adepoju.
The former commissioner for sports in the state stormed Lekan Salami Sports Complex in company of a former retired director from Oyo State Sports Council, Mr. Babatunde Oloyede and beginning to seek people’s favour after declaring foods and drinks in surplus for the audience.
It could not be ascertain yet, the position Chief Ojo-Oba might take according to some people he had contacted which included the present chairman of the board of management of 3SC, Elder Olayiwola Lankondoro, not until when interested candidates are beginning to obtain forms to seek for various electives positions in the polls scheduled for the last week of February.
“Ojo-Oba whom we have not seen here in many years was here to seek for our favour towards the FA elections, but either for himself or for somebody else, as Oloyede, a former Oyo FA secretary that followed him here is yet to be clarified, but I can tell you that, his lavish spending here was not targeted towards any other thing other than the Oyo FA election”, said one of the people that enjoyed Ojo-Oba’s booty on Friday’ evening at Adamasigba Stadium.
The incumbent vice chairman of Oyo FA, Chief James Odeniran is the only candidate that has openly signified his interest to vie for the chairmanship position when the election gets underway.
Meanwhile a five-man election committee chaired by Dr. Abiodun Salami and has Tunde Adedeji, Ibiwumi Ishola and Adewale Omoshalewa as members with the present Oyo FA secretary, Kehinde Ojelowo serving as secretary have been inaugurated.
A three man appeal committee was also formed with Barr. Adewole Adegoke as Chairman, Ojo Olusoga and Adeyemi B.A as members.
