Gabriel Olalekan Apologizes For Mistakes
Published: March 15, 2016
Rivers United centre half, Gabriel Olalekan has moved to apologize for his mistakes in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2-3 reverse to Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja.
Olalekan appeared culpable for all three goals scored by the hosts, the first, ill times bicycle which caught former teammate, Jackson Daniel in the face at the Confluence Stadium, as United suffered a third straight loss on the road.
The defender who was incidentally one of his side’s best performers on the day took the time to apologize for the isolated moments of indiscretion, adding that he will put things right in the coming games.
“I want to apologize to fans of Rivers United. What happened on Sunday will never happen again.
“For the won goal, it has never happened in all my time as a footballer and I prayed as soon as I (inadvertently headed past) my own keeper (Godwin Anyalogu).
“The good thing is that I was able to compose myself and finish the game well,” Olalekan told RIVERS UNITED MEDIA.
United have been beaten in all their travels so far as they lost to MFM in Lagos, Giwa FC in Jos and most recently, Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja.
