Chelsea Hail Mikel For Most Commanding Display In Rio, Aminu And Sadiq Umar

Once again, English Premier League club Chelsea have showered praise on influential Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel following his outstanding performance in the Dream Team’s 3-2 win over Honduras at the Olympic Games on Saturday.
The official website of the Blues noted that the number ten was involved in the build-up to Nigeria U23s three goals scored by Aminu Umar and Sadiq Umar(2), and kept the defense focused in the closing minutes while the opponents were searching for an equalizer.
“Mikel played a key role for his country in all three of their goals, which arrived in a 15-minute burst either side of the interval,” said Chelsea on their official website.
“He vindicated his offensive position after a chance-filled opening half-hour, finding Sadiq Umar at the far post for the young Roma striker to lash in his fourth goal of the competition.
“But Mikel made his Champions League-winning experience count in the dying minutes to keep the defence fully-focused, while the dynamic Umars took Nigeria to 11 goals at these Games and showed why they were one of the most exciting teams taking part in Brazil. ”
Mikel, 29, will return to Chelsea this week and will be hoping to make his 250th Premier League appearance next weekend against Burnley.
