Siasia Praises Mikel, Umars, Okechukwu, Troost-Ekong, Others After Winning Bronze
Published: August 21, 2016
Nigeria coach Samson Siasia has praised his players for winning the country’s only medal at Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and has thanked Brazilian fans for their support throughout the competition.
The former Super Eagles striker has now led Nigeria to win two medals at the Olympics, as he was in the dugout eight years ago in Beijing when the Nigeria U23s narrowly lost 1-0 to Argentina in the final of the football event.
“They did a great job . I saw this dream come true. The boys were very good. Winning a bronze medal is not easy,” Siasia said.
“We are happy and we will celebrate and enjoy this moment .
“It was wonderful to be in Brazil , with the hospitality , all the support and infrastructure. We are very happy with the medal.”
Siasia represented Nigeria at the 1994 World Cup in the United States and scored against Argentina in the group stage.
