Arsenal Midfielder Iwobi Watches From The Bench As Lincoln City Dream Dies
Published: March 11, 2017
Alex Iwobi was a non-playing substitute as Arsenal qualified for their 29th FA Cup semifinal following a 5-0 hammering of non-league side Lincoln City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.
Understandably, the Nigeria national-teamer was not given a run out by manager Arsene Wenger as he trained with the squad only once in the last few days due to illness.
The Gunners had the advantage at the end of the first half courtesy of Theo Walcott’s strike in the first minute of stoppage time.
Frenchman Olivier Giroud grabbed his 12th goal of the season eight minutes after the break after he was picked out by Bellerín, before Lincoln captain Waterfall put the ball into his own net to make it 3-0.
Alexis got the goal he was searching for in the 72nd minute, his 21st of the season, with a brilliant finish from outside the box, then Ramsey walked the ball into the net three minutes later to add more gloss to the scoreline.
Today’s victory against the Imps was Arsenal’s 200th win at the Emirates Stadium.
