Former Arsenal Star Of Nigerian Descent Adebayor Doubtful To Face Super Eagles In Paris
Published: May 21, 2017
Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Adebayor is a big doubt to suit up for Togo when they tackle Nigeria in an international friendly in Paris on June 1.
The Sparrow Hawks coach Claude Le Roy has included Adebayor on the list of four strikers he has summoned to a training camp in France ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria.
The İstanbul Başakşehir striker might not make it to France because the Turkish Super League will end on June 3, and on top of that he'll be involved in a very important Cup final against Konyaspor a day before the meeting with the Super Eagles.
The Nigeria Football Federation did their homework well before announcing their 25-man roster, leaving out Turkish-based quintet Eddy Onazi (Trabzonspor), Kenneth Omeruo (Alanyaspor), Nosa Igiebor, Godfrey Oboabona (both Rizespor) and Emem Eduok (Kasımpaşa) from the training camp, which is outside Fifa's international window for national teams get-together.
Adebayor was born in Togo to Nigerian parents 33 years ago and visits the country's commercial capital, Lagos, regularly.
