English-Born Nigerian Midfielder Demands N12.5 Billion From Everton To Sign New Deal
Published: May 25, 2017
Everton midfielder of Nigerian descent Ross Barkley is likely to bid farewell to the Liverpool based team before the close of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
The Mirror claims that the Three Lions star has demanded £100,000-a-week to sign the new five-year deal (approximately N12.5 billion over the duration of the contract) that he has been offered by the Toffees.
Barkley's contract with Everton will run out at the end of the 2017-2018 campaign, and talks have not led to him signing a new deal.
Manager Ronald Koeman is willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old because of this impasse.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Barkley with a view to making a bid in the coming days.
It has been suggested that Everton's asking price is in the region of 50 million pounds.
