Why Young Nigerian Goalkeeper Was Not Offered Fresh Terms By Arsenal
Published: June 29, 2017
England U16 goalkeeper of Nigerian descent Arthur Okonkwo has not been offered a fresh contract by Arsenal.
It was previously reported that the netminder was in line to pen a scholarship deal with the Gunners with effect from July 1, 2017, but it has come to light that the Emirates outfit will make a decision at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Arsenal youth-team expert Jeorge Bird was contacted and asked why Okonkwo was not among the new scholars that started training with Arsenal on Wednesday.
He told allnigeriasoccer.com : ''Yes, he is eligible for a scholarship from the following season (due to his age)''.
