La Liga Chief : We Would Have Allowed Manchester United To Sign Neymar
Published: August 04, 2017
Liga de Fútbol Profesional president Javier Tebas has revealed that the association would have allowed Manchester United to sign former Barcelona star Neymar.
One of the soap operas of the summer transfer window ended on Thursday when Neymar's legal representatives made the 222 million euros payment directly to Barcelona to secure his release.
The LFP had rejected the payment, stressing that it broke financial fair play regulations and they want to protect Spanish clubs.
''If the player pays the clause, Barcelona cannot let him leave,'' Tebas said to RAC1.
''What we want to understand is the origin of this €222m, if it is illegal.
''If Manchester United were to come, there would be no problems, we would have nothing to say because it is not a doped club.
''PSG is a state-run club and we have to end this situation as soon as possible.''
Neymar, who has penned a five-year deal with PSG and handed the number ten kit, will pocket 30 million euros signing bonus.
