Antonio Valencia Beats Nigerian Prodigy To Man Utd Goal Of The Month Award
Published: October 12, 2017
Lagos-born Nigerian wonderkid Tosin Kehinde has missed out on Manchester United's Goal of the Month award for September, with Ecuador star Antonio Valencia scooping the accolade.
Kehinde's super strike against Chelsea in the Premier League 2 on September 18 had been in the running for the award along with efforts from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marcus Rashford, Aidan Barlow, Arnau Puigmal, Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata.
Valencia's half-volley from 20 yards versus Everton earned 83 percent of the votes in an official club poll conducted by manutd.com.
Kehinde's goal didn't make the top three, with Aidan Barlow collecting eight percent of the votes to finish in second place, while Arnau Puigmal came third with four percent of the votes.
The talented Nigerian has yet to make his debut for United's first team since officially joining the club in July 2014.
This season, the 19-year-old has featured for Manchester United U23s four times in Premier League 2.
