Rohr Reached Out To Wenger Over Iwobi's Disciplinary Issue
Published: January 19, 2018
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has revealed that he reached out to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over Alex Iwobi's disciplinary issues earlier this month.
The Gunners number seventeen attended a party less than 48 hours before Arsenal's humiliating 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Emirates FA Cup, where he was a shadow of himself.
It was thought the 21-year-old would have been dropped from the first-team squad but Wenger continues to keep faith with the winger, starting him in Arsenal's last two matches against Chelsea and Bournemouth.
''I spoke to Arsene about it and I like the way he handled it. He did it like a father, inside the house and after, he played him in the next game,'' Rohr told KweséESPN.
''He is a young boy, and young boys make mistakes sometimes.
''I speak to all of them and we have a good relationship because we want to see the players play at a high level and train at a high level to stay fit.''
Iwobi netted the most important goal for the Super Eagles in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, a 73rd minute winner vs Zambia after coming off the bench.
