Rohr Has No Fear Of Croatia : We Hope To Beat Them First Game
Published: January 22, 2018
Interviewed on Téléfoot about Nigeria's qualification for the 2018 World Cup, manager Gernot Rohr was confident in the chances of the national team beating Croatia in their World Cup opener.
Rohr is aware that if the Super Eagles can find a way past the Croatians at Kaliningrad Stadium on June 16, his side has a good chance of progressing to the last sixteen for the fourth time at the mundial.
Nigeria have never lost to a European team in their first game at the World Cup, with victories over Bulgaria and Spain in the 1994 and 1998 editions.
''Yes I'm impatient and a little excited too, we're proud to have been the first Africans to qualify for the World Cup,'' said Rohr.
"Now we have to make a good result at this World Cup .
"We have some hope of a good result in our first match against Croatia ."
The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed friendlies against Poland, Serbia, England and Czech Republic to prepare the Super Eagles for their important World Cup opener against Croatia.
