Ex-Flying Eagles Star Ajayi Misses Out On League One Player Of The Month Prize
Published: February 09, 2018
Former Nigeria U20 international Semi Ajayi has missed out on the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for January after the winner of the award was announced on Friday morning.
Northampton Town midfielder John-Joe O’Toole won the accolade ahead of the three other players nominated : Semi Ajayi (Rotherham United), Tom Eaves (Gillingham) and Danny Graham (Blackburn Rovers).
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Mikey Mumford.
Last month, Rotherham United were undefeated in four matches in the division, playing two draws and securing two wins, with Semi Ajayi going the distance in each game.
Since he represented the Flying Eagles at the 2013 Toulon Tournament, where he played against Belgium, Brazil and Portugal, the tall central defender has not earned any cap for Nigeria at any level.
He would be hoping to put the disappointment of not winning the Player of the Month behind him when Rotherham United face Scunthorpe United in the league on Saturday, February 10.
