NFF Move To Avert Visa Hitch, Contact Euro Clubs Five Weeks Before Friendlies
Published: February 13, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that former Watford star Odion Ighalo has not yet been contacted by the Nigerian Federation over a call-up to the national team for the international friendlies against Poland and Serbia in March.
Only yesterday, Super Eagles Team Secretary, Dayo Enebi Achor, acting on behalf of the General Secretary of the Nigerian Federation dispatched letters to some of the invited players.
This was done five weeks before the players are expected to begin training for the friendly against Poland to enable them process their travel documents.
In Ighalo's case, he is in the possession of an Italian passport, so is allowed visa-free entry and exit into Poland and England, where the national team will face Serbia on March 27.
Foreign-born Eagles stars Tyronne Ebuehi, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong and Ola Aina are not required to process visas for the two friendly matches and the same goes for ex-England youth-teamers Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi.
The Nigeria Football Federation have also lined up friendlies against England and Czech Republic in June to prepare the Super Eagles for their World Cup opener against Croatia.
