John Ogu Receives Call-Up For Poland, Serbia Pre-World Cup Friendlies
Published: February 15, 2018
Hapoel Beer Sheva star John Ogu will get a chance to impress Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr ahead of the 2018 World Cup, as the German gaffer has handed him a call-up for the upcoming games against Poland and Serbia next month, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
As previously reported, the Nigerian Federation have contacted the clubs of the players summoned for the friendlies in Europe but will not make public the squad list until March.
Ogu wants to avoid a repeat scenario that saw him miss the friendly matches against Corsica and Togo last year and has begun the process of applying for a visa to the United Kingdom and Poland.
He wrote his name on the score-sheet in his penultimate match for the Super Eagles in 2017 against Algeria, but Nigeria had to forfeit that game after fielding an ineligible player Abdullahi Shehu.
The central midfielder made his debut for the national team against Kenya back in 2013.
In 18 league outings for Hapoel Beer Sheva this season, Ogu has scored one goal, logging 1,511 minutes.
