Nigerian Duo Will Not Make Man Utd Debut Vs Huddersfield, Mourinho Hints
Published: February 16, 2018
Tosin Kehinde will not make his competitive debut for the first-team of Manchester United on Saturday evening after all, coach Jose Mourinho has strongly hinted.
There had been speculation in the media that a trio of United prospects Tahith Chong, Tosin Kehinde and Angel Gomes could figure against The Terriers at The John Smith's Stadium but the Portuguese gaffer more or less dismissed the reports, saying he'll field a strong team.
''We want to go to the quarter-finals so we go with a serious approach,” Mourinho told MUTV.
''I have more Premier Leagues and League Cups so, of course, I’d like more (FA Cups) but I’m not thinking about myself.
''I’m thinking about the club and the fans.''
If the statements of Mourinho are anything to go by, it also means United States youth-teamer of Nigerian descent Matthew Olosunde is not in contention to make his maiden appearance for the Red Devils.
Kehinde and Olosunde have both trained with United's first team this season and are important members of the U23 squad.
