More Super Eagles Players Reactions: Aina Aims Sly Dig At Critics; Ogu Happy To Play First Competitive Game In Five Years
Published: October 17, 2018
Chelsea loanee Ola Aina has aimed a sly dig at his critics or the Libyan players in the wake of the national team's 3-2 win over the Mediterranean Knights in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday evening in Sfax.
The Torino fullback has been criticized by the Super Eagles fans and the media after a below average defensive showing in the match day four fixture, with the Libya strikers making several incursions from the right wing which he occupied.
Aina had to come into the Super Eagles side in place of Bursaspor's Abdullahi Shehu, who was ruled out of the tie after suffering an injury last Saturday.
Writing on social media, Aina stated : ''Tough game last night ,well done boysπ¦
π³π¬ . My spirit can never be shaken or broken, I stay smiling. Always .πβΊοΈπ€πΎ''.
Hapoel Beer Sheva star John Ogu finally played his first competitive game for the national team in five years after replacing Oghenekaro Etebo in the 75th minute.
In a Twitter post, the midfielder stated : ''Iβm really proud of this boys last night . Not easy to play in such a game after the win on Saturday .So proud to have come out with the Win . This win is for our fans . Now we focus on the next objective against South Africa.ππΌππΌπ³π¬π³π¬π³π¬''.
Prior to yesterday's fixture at Stade TaΓ―eb Mhiri, Ogu's last competitive game for the Super Eagles was against Spain at the 2013 Confederations Cup.
