Kelechi Nwakali Still Very Much In The Plans Of Porto, The Real Reason He Missed Last Three Games
Published: October 24, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Kelechi Nwakali is still very much in the plans of Porto, amid speculation in the local media that the Portuguese setup are planning to send him back to Arsenal when the transfer window reopens for business in January.
Speculation has been fueled that the 2015 U17 World Cup winner will return to his parent club simply because he has not figured for Porto B in their last three matches in the Ledman Liga Pro.
Nwakali did not make Porto B's squad against Oliveirense (September 22) and Arouca (October 7) and was on the bench for the entirety of Sunday's clash with Varzim.
Unbeknown to majority of the public, Kelechi Nwakali had encountered problems processing his Portuguese visa and was left stuck in Nigeria, hence he was not available for selection against Oliveirense and Arouca.
If not for the intervention of the Nigeria Football Federation, the attacking midfielder would not have been able to travel to Seychelles for last month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
As for last weekend's match against Varzim, the Porto B coach had his doubts about naming Kelechi Nwakali in the starting lineup as he only rejoined the group and was not too sure about his fitness.
The Diamond Academy product figured for Porto B in their first four matches of the 2018-19 season.
