United States Coach Fires Warning To Nigeria Ahead Of FIFA U20 World Cup Cracker
Published: May 26, 2019
The United States lost 2-1 to Ukraine in their opening game of the 2019 U20 World Cup and must avoid defeat in their next game against Nigeria on Monday to stand a chance of progressing to the last sixteen of the competition.
This USA team is regarded as the strongest they've taken to an U20 World Cup, with players on the books of Benfica, Köln, Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, PSG and Hannover named to the 21-man roster, while there are ten Major League Soccer players in the squad.
USA 1994 World Cup star Tab Ramos, who now coaches the U20 team, is hoping to get their campaign back on track by beating the Flying Eagles.
''We prepared in the Ukraine game to get three points, now we go to the Nigeria game to get three points,'' Ramos told reporters at a press conference after their loss to Ukraine.
''Nigeria's result, our own result at this point don't really matter, we are going to do the same thing.
''I think when you go to the third game that's when you start playing the mathematical games, at this point we just need three points.''
