Arsenal Wonderkid In Line To Play For Nigeria U23s After Positive Talks With NFF, Aigbogun In Poland
Published: May 31, 2019
Highly-rated Arsenal defender Joseph Olowu has set his sights on representing Nigeria's U23 national team after holding positive talks with representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation and manager Paul Aigbogun at the Flying Eagles Qubus Hotel in Bielsko-Biala, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
Born in Ibadan but raised in England, Olowu is eligible to represent the Nigerian and English national teams but has informed the Nigerian Federation of his decision to play for the African powerhouse over the Young Lions.
The central defender felt at home when he was with the Flying Eagles players and knows a few of the players personally.
The Hale End Academy product is good pals with Bournemouth's Nnamdi Ofoborh and has played against Manchester City's Tom Dele-Bashiru in the U18 Premier League.
Accompanied by his dad, Joseph Olowu was one of the few supporters that cheered on the Flying Eagles in their 1-1 draw against Ukraine at the Stadion Miejski (Bielsko-Biała) on Thursday evening.
Though the 19-year-old Gunners U23 star has yet to make his professional debut for the North London club, he has been called upon to train with the first team.
Olowu, who models his game after Laurent Koscielny, joined Arsenal at U14 level.
