2019 U20 World Cup : Senegal Seeking Revenge Against Flying Eagles
Published: June 03, 2019
Senegal would be seeking revenge when they confront the Flying Eagles in the last sixteen of the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup on Monday evening, starting from 1930 hours.
The Nigeria U20s were held to a 1-1 draw by Group D winners, Ukraine to set up a round of 16 meeting with Les Lions de la Teranga.
The Flying Eagles defeated today's opponents twice at the 2015 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, 3-1 in a group game with Taiwo Awoniyi (2) and Ifeanyi Matthew the scorers, before a wonder goal from Bernard Bulbwa gave them the title in the final of the competition.
Senegal's Dialy Ndiaye was the only goalkeeper to have posted three shutouts in the group phase, while Olawale Oremade conceded three goals - two against the United States and one vs Ukraine.
Paul Aigbogun and his boys have to be on their guard from the first whistle as Amadou Sagna needed only 9.6 seconds to open the scoring against Tahiti, breaking the record for fastest goal scored at the World Cup in the process.
The winner of the all-African tie in Lodz will face either South Korea or Japan in the quarterfinals on June 8 at the Bielsko-Biała Stadium, Bielsko-Biała.
