Rashford, Lingard Watch Highly-Rated Nigerian Striker Score For Manchester United U18 Team
Published: November 24, 2019
Nigeria-eligible striker Shola Shoretire was on the scoresheet for the second successive game in the U18 Premier League Cup as Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove on Saturday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Tahith Chong, who previously played for the U18 team, were spotted watching the game held at the Aon Training Complex.
United U18s coach Neil Ryan named Republic of Ireland youth-team winger Ayodeji Sotona in his starting line-up, while Netherlands U17 international Dillon Hoogewerf and Shoretire hopped off the bench in the 45th and 63rd minutes respectively.
The game was level at the end of the first half but the more experienced Seagulls looked the likeliest team to score.
And the visitors finally broke the deadlock ten minutes after the interval as Clark-Eden headed home a free-kick taken by Sam Packham.
Less than nine minutes after entering the game as a substitute, Shoretire beat two defenders before slotting past Brighton goalkeeper Rocco Rees to equalise for the Red Devils.
The 2004-born Shoretire becomes eligible to sign scholarship forms with the Old Trafford outfit in July 2020.
